President William J. Ossenfort, retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant, with a strong interest in military aircraft. Newly elected to this position effective November 2007. He has a strong managerial background and will be excellent as our president. He is presently the manager of a major Sign Company on Loring Commerce Center. Elected in November 2007, Ossenfort lives in Caribou, Maine with his family. Vice President Matt Cole, Eagle Scout, and a all around good guy who helped to get this whole thing started. His carpentry skills have played an important role in making our building what it is today. Cole knows what has to be done and does it. Elected in September 2005. Secretary Maureen Cuppy Johhdro, a former Air Force Staff Sergeant, entered the military in November 1985 and served honorably until November 1989. While on active duty she received training as an X-ray Technician and continues to work in the same capacity as a civilian. She was recalled to active duty in 1991 for Desert Storm and served for eight months. Up until 2003, Johndro was a military wife when her husband served at the former Loring Air Force Base. She was elected our secretary in November 2007 with duties to take and distribute the Center’s meeting minutes as the months come and go. We look forward to working with her. She is a very dynamic and energetic person. Maureen Cuppy Johndro lives in Caribou, Maine with her family. Treasurer James R. Moore, retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, has a formidable interest in jet engines and also monitors the Center’s book to insure that we have sufficient funds to meet our financial obligations. He also works part-time for the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, a statewide advocacy agency for the elderly. He is a member advisor on military issues to Congressman Michael Michaud of Maine’s 2 nd Congressional District. Moore lives in Caribou, Maine with his family. Members at Large Spurge A. Nason, born in the nearby town of Houlton, Maine graduated from Hodgdon High School in 1969. He joined the U.S. Military in the same year and served two tours with the Marines in Vietnam. He also served in Japan and in Thailand. Receiving an Honorable discharge in 1972, he went on to college to earn a Bachelor’s in Business and in Social Services. He began his federal Civil Service Career in 1975 and worked at the former Loring Air Force Base for 28 years as Draftsman and Community Planner. He is a member of the American Legion and Veterans Foreign Wars posts. He and his family live in Caribou, Maine. Nason has done an excellent job of obtaining and preserving the many displays we have on-hand. Darrell Sterling, retired Air Force Master Sergeant who worked in Finance his entire Air Force career. Now works as Defense Accounting & Finance in Limestone, Maine as a supervisor. He provided valuable in-puts for our annual audit. Sterling and his family live in Caribou, Maine. Norman Johndro, served with the Air Force during the Korean War and later on became a Federal Civil Servant for 30 years at the former Loring Air Force Base and now volunteers at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou, Maine. Norman Johndro lives in Limestone, Maine with his family. Past Officers and Members at Large: Chief Master Sergeant, retired, Dean Brakel, held the President’s position from our Center’s beginning in September 2005 to October 2007. Chief Brakel is still very active with the Center. Cathie Mary Welch held the secretary’s position from September 2005- October 2007. Welch was the 42 nd Bomb Wing’s Base Commander’s Secretary and started at the former Loring Air Force Base in December 1964 and worked there until it closed in September 1994. She worked for seventeen different Base Commander’s during that time period. She is still very active with the Loring Military Heritage Center. Welch lives in Caribou, Maine. Wayne Selfridge, retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant and Member at Large, came on board in September 2005 to help our Center get off the ground. With his plate already full as the Executive Director of the Loring Wildlife Refuge, a detective for the Presque Isle, Maine Police Department and a U.S. Marshall for homeland Security, in critical areas. He helped us navigate through the many Federal and State application forms The Center needed to qualify as a non-profit organization. He is still very active with Loring Military Heritage. Selfridge lives in Caribou, Maine with his family. Robert Ellenwood, Executive Board member and retired Air Force Master Sergeant. Only served for short time but sill gave us his best. Still very active with The Center. Ellenwood lives in Caribou, Maine with his family
